Beatboxing Lesson 10
Lesson Overview
In this lesson Nathan is going to show you a very cool sounding but slightly dangerous sound. It can have a negative effect on your vocal chords so you should leave it towards the end of your sessions when playing it.
Lesson Goals
- Practice making this new sound called the “growl base”. Don’t use the didgeridoo at first as the sound resembles the didgeridoo sound
- Try incorporating the “base growl” into your other beatboxing noises that you have learned with your mouth
- Try the new combination on your didgeridoo, noting the differences when using the “base growl” into your didgeridoo
Training Tips
- If you are a singer then you may want to skip this technique altogether as it can be quite tough on your vocal chords
- Some people will pick this technique up almost instantly while others will find quite difficult. Unlike all of the other lessons, this is one that we recommend coming back to later as attempting it for too long in one session can give you a sore throat
- To produce the sound you will almost have to make a coughing sound in the beginning. Before long you will realize at what point of the cough the correct sound is coming from
- Don’t get discouraged. This is probably the hardest technique we have learned so far and since it is tough on your throat, don’t be afraid to take a break and come back to it later
Were you able to do it? Or is your throat burning right now? Tell us how you did in the comment section below.
