Beatboxing Lesson 8
Lesson Overview
In this lesson Nathan is going to introduce a new rhythm. Don’t worry if the words don’t make much sense, beatboxing isn’t about the words but instead about the sounds that you’re making. This rhythm on its own will come very close to sounding like a song all on its own.
Lesson Goals
- Practice making the “boost to the capitay” rhythm directly on your didgeridoo
- While making this new rhythm, try to “freestyle” a bit and mix up the rhythm to create something new and interesting
- Make a more advanced rhythm without using your didgeridoo and then try to recreate it while using the didgeridoo
Training Tips
- If you start to get tripped up over your words while beatboxing, simply try and move on to the next sound as smoothly as possible, even if you have to start a rhythm over
- Remember that when beatboxing, you aren’t trying to create a song that already exists. Beatboxing is all about creating something new spontaneously so there is no such thing as a wrong order of words while you are “freestyling” a new combination
- If you are having trouble with the more advanced combinations on your didgeridoo, try putting it down for a while and working on your beatboxing skills using only your mouth
- Make sure you are confident with your new combinations you have created before moving on to the next lesson. Trying to move on to the next lesson too quickly will only result in you getting frustrated
Were you able to create some great new sound combinations on your own? Tell us all about it in the comment section below.
