Creative Rhythm Timing 1
Lesson Overview
After learning all sorts of different rhythms and techniques in your beatboxing lessons, Nathan is going to help you perfect your timing. Good timing can turn a mediocre rhythm into something that sounds spectacular so this lesson will be very important for taking your beatboxing on the didgeridoo to the next level.
Lesson Goals
- Practice your favorite rhythms all over again but this time pay more attention to the timing instead of the actual sounds
- Experiment with using breaths and pauses to create new patterns within the rhythms that you have already been performing
- Incorporate these timing techniques at varying degrees of speed to help you to really get a feel of how impeccable timing can affect your playing
Training Tips
- Switching up your patterns and timings mid-rhythm is not always a bad thing. You can use irregular patterns to make something really spectacular and break up a monotonous rhythm
- Your breathing can be as much a part of your timing as your beatboxing itself. Sometimes a long breath resulting in a pause sounds great musically and helps you improve your timing
- Don’t underestimate the influence that the rest of your body has on your timing. Whether you tap your foot, wave your hands or tap your hands against your didgeridoo – it really helps you to keep a good pace
- Make sure to feel comfortable before moving on to the next lesson. The timing exercises are going to become more difficult so it is important to master this one first
