Kangaroo Bouncing Sound on the Didgeridoo
Lesson Overview
In this lesson, we show you how to play the famous Australian kangaroo. As well as sounding great, this technique is excellent practice to get confident at starting your drone
Lesson Goals
- Mime the kangaroo hopping “doi-ing… doi-ing… doing” while maintaining a clear drone
- Play the baby joey by doing this technique fast
- Having a clear and sharp start to the “doi-ing”
- Be able to play 10 “doi-ings” on one breath
Training Tips
- The letter “D” actually stops the air coming out briefly. It can be difficult to make the drone start each time this happens. Stick with it, we know it can be frustrating, but it will get easier soon
- Keeping your cheeks in tight and close by using the Mona Lisa smile technique will make a huge difference in the clarity of this technique
- The clearer your drone sounds, the better you will hear the kangaroo hopping
