Lesson Overview

In this lesson we break away from solid drone playing and get into some more dainty tonguing techniques

Lesson Goals

• Be able to break up solid drone playing by playing this new tippy-tappy-tonguing technique
• Vary the sound from taps, to toots to drones
• Try making up a new rhythm with this technique

Training Tips

• Begin by practicing the “tu… tu… tu…” movement and sound
• Then try adding a very small amount of drone
• Try more of a tiny toot sound by pronouncing “toop… toop”
• Experiment with different variations of the tapping sound
• This technique is all about gentle variations in tongue and lip movements
• There are no rules here, no right or wrong, just experimenting with a new style of playing
