Papa Mumma Beginner Technique
Lesson Overview
The Papa Mumma Technique is a contemporary great technique that will add more dynamics to your didgeridoo rhythms.
Lesson Goals
- Be able to produce 2 opposite rhythmic sounds
- Create a rhythm using the 2 sounds “Pa” and “Ma”
Training Tips
- First, just basically say the words Pa and Ma while popping your lips in and out. Pa – out, Ma – in.
- Practice repeating popping your lips in and out in a faster way without the didgeridoo.
- Once you created the right sound, try to pop your lips on a didgeridoo and produce the Pa and Ma sounds.
- To produce the higher pitch of the “Ma” sound, just imagine having a lipstick and popping your lips while sucking the air in
- Try making 2 “Pa” sounds first, then 2 “Ma” sounds.
- Keep practicing and feel free to make some variations to produce a rhythm.
