Off-beat Vocals
Lesson Overview
As didge players, we get comfortable putting certain techniques in certain places. Altering the timing of your vocals can give an exciting new feel to your rhythms
Lesson Goals
- Understand the concept of “on-beat” and “off-beat”
- Play the vocal “ga… ga… ga… ga…” on the beat
- Play the vocal “ga… ga… ga… ga…” on the off-beats
- While playing continuously, alternate on-beat and off-beat vocals
Training Tips
- This may be a new co-ordination for you, so go slow and get comfortable with this slowly
- When not playing your didgeridoo, you can practice doing on and off-beat vocals to your favourite music
- Try adding off-beat vocals to your favourite didgeridoo rhythms
