Balancing Your Air
Lesson Overview
Once you have leant the circular breathing technique, your next frustration might be – still running out of air! In this lesson we show you how to keep a comfortable lungful of air to play continuously
Lesson Goals
- Be able to keep a comfortable lungful of air while playing
- Play for 3 – 5 minutes straight, without getting exhausted
Training Tips
- Keep your lungs full
- It’s best to breathe before you need to. If you feel like you need to take a breath, you have left it too late
- Circular breathing is all about, little breath out, little breath in, little breath out, little breath in…
- The less air it takes to play the drone, the easier this will be. If you are having trouble, go back to the 30, 45 and 60 second challenges to get your drone playing off the smallest amount of air possible
- If you find that your drone sound loses quality, or your lips stop vibrating the way they feel best, this is normal. This is to do with the strength of your lips. The more you practice, the stronger they will become and the longer you will be able to play with a quality sound. So play, play, play, play…
