Dynamic Diaphragm Control
Lesson Overview
This technique is excellent for adding feeling and dimension to your didge playing. It’s perfect for building atmosphere and mystery in your didgeridoo sound
Lesson Goals
- Be able to vary the volume of your drone while pulsing your diaphragm
- Combine both the diaphragm pulse and the tongue mouth-shape changes together
Training Tips
- Try not to focus so much on the technique, put your focus on the sound and feeling of your didgeridoo sound
- Experiment to see what sounds/effect you like best
- Practice this in a dark room with your eyes closed. Try to add as much mystery to your drone sound as you can with this technique
- Another way to vary the tone is to move your cheeks in and out while pulsing your diaphragm
