Didgeridoo Double Tonguing

Lesson Overview

In this lesson, we introduce you to double tonguing. This allows you to play new sounds and is a great technique to speed up your playing

Lesson Goals

  • Recognise the 2 different tongue positions created from the phrases “ta” and “ka”
  • Play the “ta-ka ta-ka” double tonguing technique
  • Play it pronounced both softly and strongly
  • Play the rhythm “ta-ka ta-ka ta-ka (B)”

Training Tips

  • First practice saying “ta-ka… ta-ka… ta-ka” without the didgeridoo
  • Then practice it through vibrating lips
  • Then play it on the didgeridoo
  • The “harder” you pronounce “ta-ka”, the more it’s going to affect your drone

Give it a try, let us know how you go and if you get stuck, post a question in the comments section below.
