Making the Toot Sound
Lesson Overview
This is the first step in tooting and by far the most important. It’s all about the vibration, not blowing hard. Check out how to get the toot vibration
Lesson Goals
- Without your didgeridoo, be able to make the fast “toot” vibration with your lips
- Make the toot sound on your didgeridoo
- Be able to play a toot for 5 seconds on your didgeridoo with one breath
Training Tips
- Try putting your top lip over your bottom lip
- It’s important to have a good seal on the mouthpiece
- If you play with your didgeridoo positioned on the side of your lips, try practicing the toots with the didgeridoo to the front of your lips first, until you get more comfortable with it
- Remember, you don’t need to blow hard. It is all about the frequency at which you need to vibrate your lips
- Longer didgeridoos are generally better suited to tooting
