Broaden Your Harmonic Range
Lesson Overview
Harmonics are such a big part of your didgeridoo sound. It’s time now to get the most out of your harmonic range and use the variation to spice up your playing
Lesson Goals
- First play the “wee – or – wee – or” tongue range movement
- Play this slowly and listen to the range of harmonics you create in between the “wee” and “or”
- Turn these two sounds into 3 by isolating a tone in the middle “wee – err – or”
- Turn into 4 separate harmonic tones
- See how many different tones you can get within the “wee – or” tongue movement
Training Tips
- Keep your drone as clear and sharp as possible. You may want to re-visit the lessons on getting the sharpest drone
- Focus on what tongue position produces what sounding drone
- Be able to start playing your drone at a desired harmonic tone
- By integrating this technique into your didgeridoo rhythms, it’s possible to make them sound very interesting and complex
