Ultra Smooth Breathing
Lesson Overview
Have you ever listened to a didgeridoo player and not been able to tell when they are breathing? In this video we show you how to make your breath invisible
Lesson Goals
- Play a consistent drone sound during your circular breath
- Control your drone sound through your breath by controlling your cheeks and diaphragm
Training Tips
- Two techniques to help smooth the breath sound are your cheek control and diaphragm control
- Focus on these two techniques separately at first to get control of each
- Try tensing up your stomach through the whole circular breath to keep your diaphragm controlled and help avoid the louder pulse when you transfer from your cheek spit to blowing again
- Take small regular breaths so you only ever need to breathe in a very small amount of air
- Keep changing the harmonics of your drone by slowly moving your tongue. This will help disguise the breath as the sound is always changing
- Concentrate on the sound you are making first, then the technique. See where the sound is changing, then tweak your technique to smooth out
